The Ultimate Guide to Overcoming a Bad Day and Getting Back to Your Best Self

We all have those days, it’s nothing to feel ashamed about. So don’t be hard on yourself about it.

Here’s a few things you can do that might make you feel a little bit better

1. Let yourself have a true day off: if you have the ability, take a mental health day. Let yourself do nothing and enjoy it. Take a nap, binge some of your guilty pleasure tv shows, drink some tea and have a long bath.

2. Get some light chores done: on the other hand, if you have the energy or motivation, do a few things around the house. Wash a few dishes, do a load of laundry. Keep it light and easy, but doing something productive can boost your mood.

3. Be in nature: go for a walk, run, or hike with the intention of being mindful. Look around you, what do you see, smell or feel. Watch the leaves rustling in the wind or a squirrel digging for nut.

4. Get some physical exercise: on a similar note, do the same with the intention of getting exercise. go for a run or hike, go to the gym, do an at home workout. YouTube has so many videos that walk you through yoga or barre exercises that you can do right in your living room.

5. Journal: write about your thoughts and feelings, get out your negative thoughts and experiences, use some journal prompts if you need to.

6. Get off social media for the day: take break. social media can be draining and can cause you to compare yourself and your life to others

7. Start a new project: give yourself something to focus on and look forward to.

8. Spend time with friends and family: whoever makes you feel at home and supported, people who don’t feel like they drain your energy.

9. Do something simple that makes you happy: if you love art, use a coloring book, if you love animals, go pet puppies at a pet store

10. Talk to a therapist: if you don't have one, start taking action today to find one, it will be worth it
