Why I'm looking forward to the New Year

Well, another year has passed, and I don't know about you, but mine wasn't incredible. It wasn't horrible, by any means, but we are still dealing with Covid and I still don't feel like I've done anything with my life, and you know... the usual. I tend to be pretty pessimistic in general, but these past few years going through some unprecedented world events haven't really made it any easier.

For the past 7 or so years, I've felt like I've been going in circles. I've known I want to do photography and graphic design since I was very young, but I spent a year at college and found out quickly that it wasn't for me. I am an independent, self taught designer and artist, and didn't feel like four years of school could teach me much more than I already knew, or could learn for free with a quick google search or free tutorial. I can see how it would be beneficial and the clear path for others, but for me, It seemed like a waste of time and money.

For years, I've been freelancing photography and graphic design, but never making enough to do it as a career. And no matter how hard I searched on Monster or Indeed, every job I tried to apply for required a degree or 2 years of experience. I thought if only I could show them my portfolio they could see that I have all the knowledge and experience necessary, but nothing has worked out. So I resigned myself to returning to college. In the four semesters I've been there, I've felt like I could teach the classes I was taking on art and design, and its been challenging to stick with it. But I believed that to be my only option. Until now!

I've been lucky enough to have been accepted at a program called Praxis, which teaches you real life career skills and then sends you off into your career in as little as 6 months! It seems to be exactly what I've been looking for. In 6 months, I could have my dream career, or at least be getting a lot closer than I have been for years and years. I have high hopes for this year, I'm ready to put in the work and do whatever it takes and I am optimistic that my dream job is just a few steps away.

Can we cheers to that? šŸŽ‰

Well enough about me, what do you have to look forward to?

Maybe I can help with that, I have a few things in store for this year that I'm very excited about which involve you too. I'm back to blogging (as you can see), and I have a lot of ideas for upcoming blog posts. I got a Cricut machine for Christmas, and while I'm a bit intimidated to open it up and figure out how it works, I'm very excited for all the things I'll be able to do for my Etsy shop with this crazy piece of equipment! And I'm going to continue to make a variety of materials for you like blog posts, ebooks, and maybe even a course?

Let me know by commenting below, what you would like to see from me looking forward? Is there any certain products you need in your life? Any workbooks you'd like to see?

Most importantly, what are you looking forward to in 2022? Are you optimistic about this New Year?
